Our spring meeting brought together members from fourteen labs across industry and academia. The theme that kept coming up — unprompted — was scheduling software: what people actually run, where it falls short, and the workarounds that have quietly become load-bearing.
A few takeaways from the room:
- Nobody has a perfect scheduler; everybody has a favourite complaint.
- Integration between instruments and LIMS remains the biggest time sink.
- The most useful sessions were the ones where people showed their failures.
